Walking Through Brady Systems

Recently, METTLER TOLEDO introduced a Bluetooth® adaptor for its industrial scale terminals and printers.  The adaptor is the ACM360.  You can find out more about it here. While this type of technology has been around for a while for the average person with a cell phone or laptop, it is a fairly new and exciting development for the scale industry. The industrial scale industry has traditionally been on the slower side in adapting newer technologies. To see the changes over the past 10 years, with the introduction of technology that came years before in the PC world, is fascinating.

Our Building

The new ACM360 adaptor got me thinking about how much the scale industry has changed in the past 20 to 30 years which then lead me to take a walk about our building.  Brady Systems is located in a historic building in Syracuse, NY.  It was originally built in the 1880’s as a candle factory for Francis Baumer.  There are even a couple of articles written about the candle factory and the building.  It eventually became the Will and Baumer Candle Factory. Here is a brief blog about our building and here is the information on the Will and Baumer Candle Factory. Below are a few images from of the building:

Old Scales

Besides working in an older building, we wouldn’t be a proper industrial scale company if we didn’t have a collection of older scales.  Our basement is has a number of dial scales from early in the 20th century, and our entrance has a fully working dial people weigher.  A couple of drum counter scales grace our operations department, and relics of the not so distant past dot our upper floors.

The Future

While our past surrounds us, Brady Systems focus is on the here and now.  We strive to provide the most current scale technology to our customers.  We commit a considerable amount of time and effort in training our people to install and support the latest scale technology available.  Brady is excited to bring our customers new technologies like Bluetooth for their businesses.
